Leadership in Formation

This programme is designed to facilitate the formation of Christian leaders (and those on a spiritual journey) from diverse sectors, backgrounds and communities. 

It is based upon the premise that leadership development is a journey marked by cycles of critical incidents, character maturity, transition, being skilful and legacy creation.  


Where are you?  

Self-assessment and evaluation 
This assessment and evaluation question enable each leader to establish where they have travelled in their own story. We look at the positional i.e. roles and responsibilities; dispositional i.e. attitude and emotional life and transitional leadership journeys. Based on Genesis 3:9.

What is that in your hand?

Gift and capabilities
This ‘gift’ question equips each leader to discover, recover or revisit their motivational gifts, specific skill sets and future development needs. It provides space and scope to explore what makes them and their organisation distinctive. Based on Exodus 4:2.

What is your name?

Identity and interdependence
This ‘identity’ question prompts leaders to take a less subjective view of what constitutes the personal and organisational entities. In doing so, there is the possibility of creating healthier relationships that result in leadership effectiveness. Based on Genesis 32:27.

Where is your brother/sister?

People and teams
Human beings are complex organisms. When people come together and form teams the systemic complexity and potential for conflict increases. Leaders must learn to work with others in a way that enhances rather than frustrates interactions. Based on Genesis 4:9.

What do you see?

Vision and motivation
The vision question gently challenges a leader to explore the benefits and pitfalls related to personal and organisational vision. Particularly the major issues that arise when these visions diverge or converge. Based on Amos 7:8.

Can these bones live?

‘Faith’ and impact  
‘Faith’ questions are pertinent to leaders who wish to ensure that personal challenge and ‘risk-taking’ properly inform their leadership development. While ‘faith’ provides confidence to take action, impact provides necessary feedback. Based on Ezekiel 37:3.

Who do you say I am?

Congruence and wholeness
The question of congruence will enable leaders to explore what authenticity, integrity and alignment looks like to them. In addition, they will consider the ‘cultural’ challenge of organisational integrity. Based on Matthew 16:15.
