7 P’s in Persevering Leadership

This programme is designed to develop resilience in leaders from diverse sectors, backgrounds and communities. 

Through the themes of purpose, priorities, persistence, process, perspective, people and provision, leaders are encouraged to develop the necessary ‘elasticity’ required for effective leadership in fast-changing environments.


1 Purpose  

Why a leader leads
You will explore how organisational and individual purposes are created. Through this you will understand the importance and challenge of aligning motives from the organisational ‘why we do what we do’ and the individual ‘why I do what I do’.

2 Priorities  

What a leader does first, last or not at all
You will revisit how the complexity of work and ministry meets your unique response to pressure and distractions.  You will reassess your current priorities and consider how to maintain focus, direction, commitment and connection to deliver great results.

3 Persistence  

How a leader keeps delivering results
In fast-changing environments, leadership capacity and disposition are critical to progress.  You will learn the importance of persistence as a habitual ‘state of mind’ and the difference between persistence and unhelpful/destructive patterns of stubbornness in leadership.

4 Process  

Who a leader is becoming
Leadership is a journey marked by cycles of critical incidents, character maturity, transition, being skilful and legacy creation.  You will learn and review how this development ‘process’ is essential for sustaining individual, team and organisational excellence.

5 Perspective  

How a leader sees things
Perspective is about ‘what we see’ and ‘how we see it’. Leaders know that ‘perception’ is important but perspective is very nearly everything!  You will gain insights that minimise mental overload, the feeling of being stuck in a rut and fear of derailment.

6 People  

Those a leader relates to
The people closest to a leader can influence and determine their ultimate achievements. You will map your stakeholder network noticing areas of strength/risk and then develop practical strategies that grow and enhance rather than frustrate key relationships.

7 Provision  

What a leader is responsible for
Leaders govern tangible resources like time, money, people, information and intangibles like service, reputation, integrity and culture. You will examine your stewardship ability and determine how to make improvements that produce a greater impact.
