W'men

What is W’men in Leadership?
W’men is a ministry of Next Leadership and stands for Women’s Mentoring, Equipping and relational Network or W’men for short.

Why does it exist?
Like so many women, I (Kate Coleman) emerged as a leader from a context of opposition and resistance to women in leadership on the UK church scene.  Unfortunately, at the time, I didn’t believe in women in church leadership either!  However, I am now fully convinced of the truism that, ‘some leaders are born women’!

Women in positions of responsibility face unique challenges, which are often invisible to those around them.  My early years presented me with a great many leadership challenges (come to think of it, so have my latter years!).  I believe that a Christian leader is someone who is prepared to take responsibility for faithfully implementing the purposes of God, wherever they are positioned.  Over twenty years of experience has taught me the value of John Maxwell’s adage: ‘Everything rises and falls on leadership’

W’men recognises that God is placing women in strategic positions of influence in unprecedented ways. For the first time in modern history, women are entering leadership roles in the church, the public arena, the corporate world and in the charity and voluntary sectors in increasing numbers. According to Genesis 1 and 2, the record of the creation story, without woman, God’s image in creation is incomplete.

W’men does not advocate that women are better than men, simply that women must be prepared to take their place alongside men, as co-stewards of God’s creation purposes, fulfilling God’s creation mandate.  In fact, until women take their place alongside men as co-stewards over God’s created order, God’s purposes for this world can never be fulfilled.

W’men exists with the specific mandate to support and release the leadership of other women. By engaging with W’men in leadership, you will be standing with women who are also committed to releasing the leadership of other women.

Who is it for?
W’men caters specifically for women who influence others from a platform, committee or by phone, or who get things done through problem solving, strategic thinking, managing other people’s expectations, ideas, budgets and/or time.

W’men is for Christian women leaders and those on a spiritual journey, involved in churches of any denomination or stream, charity, voluntary, public and private sectors, who want to release their God-given potential and serve God well, inside and out...

How will it benefit me?

If you would value an approach to leadership development that is both practical and spiritual and specifically designed to enable you to become the leader God intended you to be, W’men in Leadership is exactly what you need!  We provide a confidential and supportive environment, together with spiritual inspiration, practical application and prophetic interaction.

7 Deadly Sins of Women in Leadership Programme

1st Deadly Sin of Women in Leadership - Limiting Self-Perceptions
Our leadership of others is affected by what we believe about ourselves. Many women cultivate an unrealistic and ‘limited’ view of themselves.  In this training session, we ask women to challenge such views, in a bid to guide them toward a more confident and assured leadership.

2nd Deadly Sin of Women in Leadership - Failure to Draw the Line
Unlike most men, many of the leadership challenges faced by women in work and ministry, are boundary issues. We empower women to establish boundary lines in healthier places and provide guidelines on how and when to say, ‘yes’ and ‘no’.

3rd Deadly Sin of Women in Leadership - Inadequate Personal Vision
Women are particularly susceptible to inadequate personal vision. This session enables women to discover their own compelling personal vision, that will inspire and sustain them throughout life’s many challenges.

4th Deadly Sin of Women in Leadership - Too Little Life in the Work
Most women seldom ever stop working, even when they are on ‘holiday’!  We empower women to develop a healthier work-life rhythm that enables them to truly work, rest and play.

5th Deadly Sin of Women in Leadership - Everybody’s friend, Nobody’s Leader
21st Century leadership is said to be relational.  Women have always been more concerned about relationships and therefore have the potential to excel at relational leadership. We explore some of the benefits, pitfalls and challenges involved in relational leadership and equip women to navigate the friendship/leadership terrain.

6th Deadly Sin of Women in Leadership - Colluding and Not Confronting
Until the perception of leadership is both male and female, women in leadership will often face greater obstacles and may experience greater conflict, than men.  Commitment to peacemaking provides an opportunity to deal with differences appropriately through confronting (facing up to), rather than colluding (conspiring) with others.

7th Deadly Sin of Women in Leadership - Neglect in Family matters
The people closest to a leader often determine the leader’s ultimate success. Regardless of whether women are married, single, with or without children, family members are often a very significant part of our ‘inner circle’, that is, our circle of influence.  We explore ways to enhance the power of a woman’s inner family circle.

Personal leadership mentoring
We provide leadership training programmes specifically designed for women as we believe that there are many issues that impact women in leadership in unique and distinctive ways compared to male leadership.  If you would value an approach to leadership development that is specifically designed for women, W’men in Leadership is exactly what you need!  W’men equips women leaders through a unique combination of Biblical teaching, leadership mentoring, coaching, spiritual and emotional support all provided within a confidential and prayer filled environment. If you would like to explore this further please complete a personal mentoring/coaching needs analysis.

What they said...

Your session with the women on Saturday morning literally got rave reviews…
Steve – pastor Exeter

Thank you so much for all your hard work… You have certainly broken the mould.  Yeah!!  Praise God
Lorna – wife and mother

The response from your visit has been great!  The feedback from the women has been really positive.
Joan –  women’s group leader

Young Women Leaders (18 - 25 year olds)

Our programmes for young women include individual, group and community interaction designed to promote awareness and self-discovery.  These encounters are both frank and are aimed at countering the increasing levels of uncertainty and low self-esteem so prevalent at this stage of development. The leadership potential and gifts of young women are sometimes eclipsed to the point of abandonment.  Young W’men aims to re-ignite and fan into flame their passion for God, together with a recognition of their own leadership potential in such a way, that will encourage personal and community transformation.  Once again, we employ our unique combination of Biblical teaching, leadership mentoring, coaching, spiritual and emotional support, all within a confidential and prayer filled atmosphere. If you would like to explore this further please complete an Organisation/Church Group needs analysis.

It was a great weekend and a nice break almost from everything in life, so thanks!

It was sikkkkkkk! I really did enjoy myself and I can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you, it was great!

I know everyone got lots out of it. We based our youth service on the motto and it was really good too. I think it helped rekindle some passion and encouraged us all.

I'm looking forward to the next one!

Thank you to the whole team for such a blessed young women’s conference. ps the little personal touches (our goodie bags) were a really nice thought.

This must happen again!!! Lol
